The Fairly Odd Parents (Live Action?!)
So earlier today I was feeling nostalgic and remembered one of my favorite shows as a kid, The Fairly Odd Parents. So I search the show on “The Google” and I started seeing stuff talking about “Live Action Fairly Odd Parents Movie.” When I saw this I was like “WTF?” Then I assumed it was one of those parody videos.
I was wrong.
There was a legit live action movie. The synopsis was even weirder.
“Timmy is now twenty-three years old but is still in fifth grade with his fairy-obsessed fifth grade teacher Mr. Crocker. Despite being grown up, Timmy finds a loophole in the fairy rulebook Da Rules: if he continues to act like a kid, he will still get to keep his fairies. However, the dilemma rises when Tootie, who was once a dorky girl when she was ten years old, returns to Dimmsdale as an attractive woman. Timmy falls in love with her, a sign that he is growing up to an adult, which means he is closer to losing his fairies. Meanwhile, an oil business tycoon named Hugh J. Magnate, Jr., who teams up with Mr. Crocker, plans to use Timmy’s fairies’ magic in order to promote his oil business.”
WTF.
I told myself that the mere existence of this movie was raping my childhood and I refuse to ever watch it or acknowledge that it ever came into being. If only it were that easy.
I tried to forget about it, but I kept thinking about it. The idea of Drake Bell being a 23 year old 5th grader kept haunting me. I just had so many questions like…
“HOW THE HELL DO YOU MAKE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS WITH REAL PEOPLE!!”
After about 3 minutes of this torture I searched for the movie on youtube and watched it.
My consenus, ehhh it was pretty bad…BUT I kinda like it. Let me explain, as a filmmaker and an adult the movie was pretty stupid, but when I have my nostalgia glasses on I really like it. It was fun seeing the show literally come to life and seeing the characters grown up. I’m not going to say much, cause I’m lazy but if you were a fan of the show you might want to check it out.
