Open Scenes
They are awful, maybe it’s because I’m not that creative. If you don’t know what an Open Scene is it’s pretty much a serious of dialogue between two or more characters that has no story.
A: Oh! I wasn’t expecting you
B: Why not
A: Never mind
B: Let’s talk
A: Okay
B: You first
A: It’s difficult
B: Tell me
A: How long has it been
B: Too long
A: I know
This is an example of part of one that I’m doing. The worst thing about these scenes is that you’ll think of an idea and you’ll get it to work for most of the script but then you’ll run across a line that makes no sense with your story. Frustrating as fuck. I also have to create the blocking and shot-list, figure out the “spine” of my script, find actors, rehearse with them, then on Monday I have 45 minutes to shoot the whole scene in class while everybody watches me epically fail. Not looking forward to next Monday.
